Our annual spring gathering on Tybee Island, Georgia, has become a beloved tradition, drawing vintage trailer enthusiasts from across the country. The charm of this coastal destination, combined with a full campground of over 75 vintage rigs, sets the stage for a weekend of nostalgia, fun, and community.
The weekend kicked off with a Thursday night meet and greet, featuring a spread of vintage-inspired snacks and the warm company of fellow campers. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the sky lit up with brilliant colors, making way for an outdoor movie night under the stars. Chairs circled around a large screen, popcorn popped, and laughter filled the air as The Long, Long Trailer played—a perfect film for a crowd surrounded by vintage campers. As the New Moon trailer sat proudly in the front row, more than a few glances turned toward it during the screening, adding a touch of magic to the moment.
As the weekend rolled on, many attendees explored the area—whether strolling the beaches of Tybee or heading into nearby Savannah to soak in the history and charm. Friday night brought the first-ever evening trailer open house, with campers lit from within and the sea breeze weaving through the campground. Guests wandered from trailer to trailer, enjoying the warm glow and thoughtful restorations on display.
Saturday was set to be the big public open house, but Mother Nature had other plans. A strong weather system swept through, drenching the area and flooding parts of the campground. Still, the spirit of the group held strong. Campers rallied together, drying things out in time for a shorter, yet meaningful, open house. Proceeds from ticket sales went directly to support local charities—an important part of the event’s purpose and heart.
Though the final festivities were once again cut short by more rain, the memories made under Tybee’s moss-draped trees were more than enough to keep the spirit of the weekend alive. With laughter, friendship, and a shared love for vintage trailers, this spring event continues to be a highlight for many in the community.
