Mary Lodge won a special glamping trip. She invited three friends—Robin, Michelle, and Rashelle—to join her for a weekend. Details included vintage trailers, good food, wine tasting, and plenty of laughs.
My co-host, Sharon Castello, and I arrived early at 49’er Village RV Park in Plymouth, California, to prepare for their stay. My husband even helped tow one of the trailers despite battling vertigo. Our campsite featured two of my vintage trailers: a red-and-white 1960 Corvette and a 1968 Wheel Camper.
The weekend menu included Orange Wedge Jello Shots, White Russian and 50/50 Pudding Shots, a Bloody Mary Bar, and several tasty meals—including Breakfast in a Bag.
The ladies were also treated to a complimentary VIP wine tasting at Cooper Vineyards, where they had an opportunity to visit with Mr. Cooper. Each guest received a gift bag containing a travel pillow made from retro outdoor-girl fabric, a booklet featuring recipes from the weekend, and a few other surprises.
After dark, everyone settled in for outdoor movies. The lineup included The Long, Long Trailer, naturally, along with a documentary about cowgirls.
The trip must have been a success. Before the weekend was over, the ladies were already conspiring about how they could win it again.
The Rowell Ranch Rodeo Cowgirl Picnic raises money for scholarships that help young women with “cowgirl spirit” pay for school expenses. It is a great cause—and a wonderful reason to gather with friends for a memorable glamping adventure.
