Palm Springs Modernism Week

If you enjoy vintage trailers, one of the best ways to learn about them is to attend an open house. These events give visitors a chance to step inside restored and original trailers, meet their owners, and see the creative ways people use and decorate them.

See Vintage Trailers Up Close

Photos are helpful, but there is nothing quite like walking through a vintage trailer in person. You can see the original woodwork, clever storage, period appliances, restoration details, and personal touches that make each trailer different.

Open houses may include Airstreams, Shastas, Spartans, canned-ham trailers, rare brands, and one-of-a-kind models. Some have been restored to their original appearance, while others have been updated for comfortable camping.

Trailer owners are usually happy to answer questions and share restoration stories. If you own a vintage trailer, are searching for one, or simply want to know what they look like inside, an open house is a great place to start.

Visit a Trailerfest Open House

Every Trailerfest Rally includes a public open house on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.

Visitors can walk through the rally, tour participating trailers, visit with their owners, and experience the vintage trailer community firsthand. Not every trailer may be open, so please look for signs or follow the directions provided at the event.

Other Vintage Trailer Shows

Vintage trailers are also featured at larger design and lifestyle events. Palm Springs Modernism Week, for example, includes a Vintage Trailer Show as part of its celebration of mid-century architecture, art, fashion, and culture.

Unlike most rally open houses, the Palm Springs Vintage Trailer Show requires paid admission. Tickets may sell out, so advance reservations are recommended.

Find an Open House Near You

You do not have to attend an entire rally to enjoy the trailers. Come for the Saturday open house, take your time looking around, and introduce yourself to the owners. You may leave with restoration ideas, new friends, or inspiration to find a vintage trailer of your own.
