There’s a common misconception floating around campgrounds: that trailer rallies are only for polished aluminum classics and pastel-painted canned hams from the 1950s. Not true.
The Trailerfest rallies welcome everyone*—including owners of newer-model travel trailers, modern RVs, teardrops, and even tents. Many events now offer a designated section just for contemporary rigs, so you can camp comfortably while still being right in the middle of the action. Whether you’re traveling solo, bringing the kids, or meeting up with friends who tow vintage, you’ll have a place at the rally.

All the Fun, No Matter What You Tow
These gatherings aren’t just about the trailers—they’re about the people and the experience. Expect:
- Creative crafts for kids and adults
- The always-popular parades (Golf carts, bikes, mini-bikes, pets, lights etc.)
- Pancake breakfasts that bring everyone together
- Potlucks overflowing with homemade favorites
- Live music and evening socials
- And plenty of laughter around the campfire
On Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., there’s always an open house. It’s a chance to tour beautifully restored vintage trailers, admire clever upgrades, swap ideas, and maybe even gather inspiration for your own rig—old or new.
Many rallies also include classic car cruises and car shows, making it a full weekend celebration of vintage style and community spirit. If you enjoy polished chrome, retro paint schemes, and timeless design, you’ll feel right at home.

Modern Rig? Perfect.
Don’t let the year stamped on your VIN keep you from pulling in. Newer travel trailers, late-model fifth wheels, teardrops, motorhomes, and modern builds are all part of today’s camping culture. In fact, bringing a contemporary setup is often the first step toward catching the vintage bug.
Some attendees arrive with modern RVs simply because that’s what fits their family’s needs right now. Others are scouting for their future classic. And some just love the atmosphere and the friendships.
No one’s checking model years at the gate.

Come for the Community
Trailer rallies are about shared stories, shared meals, and shared appreciation for life on the road. It doesn’t matter if your trailer rolled off the line last year or last century. What matters is showing up.
So hitch up what you’ve got—retro, modern, shiny, matte, aluminum, fiberglass, or canvas—and join the fun.
*Most rallies have room for modern RVs. Buellton, and possibly others, do not.
