Eunice: The Orange 1967 Kenskill Brightens Arizona’s Vintage Rally

La Siesta Campgrounds in Arivaca, Arizona has long been a favorite destination for vintage trailer groups across the Southwest. The campground regularly plays host to events for clubs like Southern Arizona Vintage Trailers and Rides, Sisters on the Fly, Arizona Round Up, Streamline Vintage Travel Trailers, and Tin Can Tourists Southwest.

Unlike most of the country, Arizona’s vintage camping season kicks off in the cooler months, after the summer monsoons taper off. The rally we attended marked the start of the season, and the energy throughout the campground was joyful and welcoming. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this was more than just a gathering of trailer enthusiasts—it was a reunion of close friends who have become like family over the years.

While seasoned campers were reconnecting, newcomers were being warmly welcomed. One couple brought their freshly rebuilt vintage trailer for its first rally appearance—a striking 1967 Kenskill that immediately drew attention. Before they could even finish setting up, their camper was surrounded by curious and admiring fellow attendees, snapping photos and offering compliments.

Among the standout trailers at the rally was a freshly restored 1967 Kenskill, making its debut after a major rebuild. The trailer belongs to a couple attending their first rally with the group, and it immediately turned heads. Before they could even roll out their awning, curious rallygoers were already snapping photos and admiring the trailer’s unique touches.

The 1967 Kenskill wasn’t just a trailer purchase—it was a heartfelt tribute. Bought in memory of the owner’s mother, the trailer carries the name “Eunice,” a playful nickname exchanged between mother and daughter over the years. Her mother, a generous and spirited woman who loved to travel and appreciated “shiny, pretty things,” inspired every detail of the trailer’s redesign. With its large panoramic windows, bright color palette, and sparkling chandelier, “Eunice” captures both elegance and joy, reflecting the vibrant personality it honors.

Though the trailer initially appeared in decent shape, the restoration team quickly discovered extensive hidden damage. It took time, care, and the skilled hands of trusted members within the vintage trailer community to bring it back to life. The result is more than a camper—it’s a rolling memorial and celebration of family, adventure, and living beautifully.

The weekend wrapped up with a chili cook-off that brought out the competitive (and culinary) spirit of the group. The winning pot was generously donated to support the local 4-H Club, but the title of Chili Champion was held onto with pride. Trick-or-treating brought the community together as kids from town wandered through the campground in costume, collecting candy from costumed campers happy to share in the fun. Afterward, the younger crowd played games under the stars while the adults relaxed by the fire, swapping stories and laughter.

Whether it’s Arizona, the Pacific Northwest, the Midwest, or the East Coast, one thing remains true: the vintage trailer community is built on shared passions, warm welcomes, and a deep appreciation for history, craftsmanship, and camaraderie. The trailers may be the draw, but it’s the people who keep the wheels turning.
