Craby 2 The Teardrop Trailer

We are on to another adventure! We knew it was love at first sight when Cheryl and Jd purchased their beloved “Crabhut”(see VCT Magazine, Jan-Feb 2016 issue) about 10 years ago, and now they have added me to the family! I am Craby 2, their adorable little teardrop trailer.

Cheryl & Jd loved the fun and convenience of teardrop camping. It didn’t take long before Jd got the bug to design his own teardrop trailer to match our tow vehicle, the 1954 Ford F-100 (affectionately called the Crabtow!). His dream for me became a reality with all the hard work supplied by Ray Permenter of Rayme Teardrops in Phoenix, and Bruce Evans from Early Iron in Phoenix. I must admit – they did a great job! I’m gorgeous!

My beautiful black color is all powder-coated metal to match the Harley Davidson black paint on the Crabtow. Check out the American Mags that match too! I love the way my fenders turned out, thanks to Ray’s early 1930 design. In fact, many of my details reflect vintage design, like my taillights and bumper. Mounted on the tongue is a beautiful reproduction of a 1932 Roadster Trunk wrapped in black leather. How’s that for a storage box?

Open the side doors and you’ll see a 6-foot bed with 4-inch-high density foam for extra comfort, his and hers storage cabinets, and a roof vent with a 2-speed fan. When you open the kitchen galley, be prepared to be Wowed! My kitchen has beautiful wood paneling and cabinets, 2 burners, and an oven. I also have extra storage for Jd’s cast iron cookware.

As you can see – I’m a showstopper! I love that my design has carried on the famous Crabhut beach cottage design – and of course the crabby items thrown in for fun!
