Sun, surf, and polished aluminum come together each year along the shores of Lake Huron at the Port Crescent Vintage Camper Show in Port Crescent, Michigan. With more than 120 vintage trailers and motor coaches on display, the campground transforms into a living showcase of camper history set against a beautiful lakeside backdrop.

The Port Crescent show is one of the signature vintage trailer rallies hosted by the Tin Can Tourists (TCT), the oldest and largest vintage trailer club in the world. Founded in 1919, TCT was built on the idea of fellowship among campers—a spirit that continues today through gatherings like this one and many other vintage camper events and rallies held nationwide. (You can find upcoming rallies and events here.)

What makes Port Crescent special is both its scale and its variety. Trailers from nearly every decade are represented, including rare pre-war models, classic “canned hams,” motor coaches, camper vans, and even truck campers. Each year features a theme that encourages creativity, with owners decorating their rigs to match—adding even more color and personality to the show.

Beyond the trailers themselves, the event draws thousands of visitors who come to tour the campers, meet the owners, and hear the stories behind each restoration. Many of the trailers on display were rescued from barns, campgrounds, or even former hunting cabins and brought back to life through careful craftsmanship and imaginative design.

Like many successful vintage trailer rallies, the Port Crescent show is as much about people as it is about campers. Owners frequently say the friendships formed and stories shared are what keep them coming back year after year. It’s a reminder that vintage trailer events aren’t just displays of restored aluminum—they’re gatherings that celebrate community, history, and the joy of the open road.
