The Trailer Treehouse Reflects Her Love of Outdoors

When Tawna, a free-spirited, earth-loving hippy, came to us with her 1973 Wilderness trailer, she had a unique vision: a natural, organic “trailer treehouse.” She wanted the interior to reflect her love of the outdoors—natural woods, no plastics, minimal waste, and as few toxic materials as possible.

We got right to work. The first step was stripping away the fake wood wallpaper, carefully removing it down to the raw surface using a heat gun, scraper, and sander. To keep with Tawna’s eco-conscious lifestyle, we created our own non-toxic stains from organic materials and minerals—things like rusty water, tea, coffee grounds, and vinegar.

Reclaimed fencing from a horse ranch found new life inside the trailer, becoming a striking chevron-pattern feature wall and accents in the bathroom. Knowing Tawna’s love of wildflowers, we added a special touch: wild lilac branches, artfully framing the cabinet doors.

Every step of the way, we stayed true to her request for a natural restoration, even down to the cleaners we used—safe, non-toxic solutions only.

For us, projects like this are more than just restorations. They’re collaborations. We love getting to know our clients on a personal level, turning visions into realities that feel deeply connected to who they are. By the end, our clients often become our friends—and that makes the work all the more rewarding.
