Rare Gem on Wheels: The 1958 Pleasure Craft

Owners: Carol and Mo Hooff – La Center, WA

Only two molded fiberglass Pleasure Crafts are known to exist, making this trailer an incredibly rare survivor of 1950s ingenuity. Built in Rancho Cucamonga, California, this particular Pleasure Craft found its way into the hands of Carol and Mo Hooff in 2002, when they purchased it from a neighbor.

The Hooffs lovingly restored the trailer to pair perfectly with their 1959 Ford Country Sedan, creating a striking vintage combination that always turns heads.

One of the most unusual design elements is the built-in water storage system. At first glance, the triangular-shaped piece next to the bed and above the sink looks like simple support—but it’s actually a cleverly engineered water tank. The tank can be filled from the outside, and the faucet inside is gravity-fed, a simple yet effective solution that highlights the innovative spirit of the era.

With its rarity, thoughtful restoration, and quirky features, the Hooffs’ 1958 Pleasure Craft stands as both a conversation piece and a piece of vintage trailer history.
