Lynn and Larrie Follstad have been part of the vintage trailer community for many years. We have camped with them at rallies up and down California, from the Pismo rally to the early days of Trailerfest in Lodi, CA. (See where are rallies are now.)
Their Ken Craft trailer is easy to remember. Its polished aluminum sides are paired with a pale yellow fiberglass roof and matching endcaps. Inside, the trailer has been restored to reflect its original look and character.
At one large Trailerfest gathering, with more than 225 vintage trailers in attendance, the Follstads happened to be camped next to longtime rally friends Martin and Pamela Fisk.
The Fisks have also been part of Trailerfest since the Lodi years, often arriving with their Aristocrat trailer and a beautiful 1956 Cadillac tow vehicle.
That weekend, something quickly stood out. The Cadillac was nearly the same pale yellow as the Follstads’ Ken Craft.
Naturally, the opportunity was too good to pass up.
The Ken Craft and Cadillac were staged together in one campsite for a few photos, creating what looked like a perfectly matched vintage tow vehicle and trailer combination. The polished aluminum, pale yellow paint, and classic 1950s styling made the pair look as though they had always belonged together.
Sometimes the best rally photos are not planned at all. They happen when the right trailers, cars, and people just happen to end up camping next door to each other.
