A 1972 Chevy C-30 Custom Camper made by the Mitchell Company was the canvas for this full-on custom build by Creative Mobile Interiors of Grove City, OH.

CMI President , Josh Gifford, located the vehicle in Colorado where it had been left sitting in a backyard for eight years. It was buried up to its axles in the mud. After adding fuel and a battery and airing up the tires, the neglected camper drove out of the backyard under it’s own power!

In December of 2017, Josh surprised his team with this project by gathering everyone together and driving the rig into the shop where he announced that they would be presenting the 1972 Custom Camper at SEMA in November of 2018. Specializing in custom interior rebuilds, the CMI team was planning on removing the original interior and rebuilding it while keeping the original patinaed exterior. Once the build got started, they found that the camper was full of rot. When they removed the interior’s structure, the camper walls collapsed. Not deterred, Josh and his team kept the original design and dimensions, but totally rebuilt the entire camper. Starting with a new aluminum frame, this build was literally a frame up! The rebuild took eleven months and 2,200-man hours to complete. Every crevice was touched and the following modifications were made.
